Neuroradiology Fellowships

University of Florida, Gainesville offers one and two year fellowship programs approved by the American Society of Neuroradiology and accredited by the ACGME (American Council of Graduate Medical Education). Our neuroradiology program is based at Shands and UF, which include 557 beds. We have active neurosurgery, neurology and ENT services. All hospitals are equipped with state-of-the-art imaging equipment for MR, CT, and neuro-diagnostic and interventional angiography. The neuroradiology fellow will gain superb experience in advanced neuroimaging, including neuroangiography, CT, MRI, CT and MR angiography, MR spectroscopy, and functional brain imaging.

Our busy interventional service uses microcatheter techniques for thrombolysis, ablation of aneurysms with microcoils, embolization of arteriovenous malformations and intraarterial therapy of intracranial and head and neck tumors. Additional experience will be obtained in percutaneous biopsy of spine and head and neck lesions, epidural and nerve root injections, and vertebroplasty. Procedures are performed under close staff supervision.

In addition to clinical duties, the fellow has the responsibility of teaching radiology residents and medical students. Our educational program is enhanced by numerous conferences within the Department of Radiology and also joint conferences with the Departments of Neurosurgery, Neurosciences, and ENT. Ample time is provided for clinical and laboratory research projects.
